2nd Annual North Slave Fastball Clinic
The NWT Softball Association hosted the 2nd Annual North Slave Youth Fastball Clinic on August 12-13th in Yellowknife, NT at Tommy Forrest Ball Park. The two day clinic saw just over 30 youth from Wah’ti, Hay River, Fort Simpson and Yellowknife participate.
Bryan Sask, returning BC Coach, provided a variety of skills and fun drills for the youth to learn about the game of Fastball. With help from the great volunteers over the weekend, Sask was able to focus on the youth’s skills and watch how the group grew over the two days. Over the weekend it was evident that the youth took to the skills, drills and games with plenty of intensity and great capabilities.
President of NWT Softball, Paul Gard, is happy to see the success of the clinic. It is interest from the communities and the partnership with the Softball organization that make these clinics a success. Gard believes that “in order to develop and increase our game in the north it is critical to provide quality clinics for minor ball players across the north”.
Am enourmous thank you goes out to all our volunteers over the weekend for their huge hand on making this clinics success. Also a great amount of gratitude goes out to the community leaders who helped organize the youth to attend, as well as MACA – who supported the clinic through the RYSE grant.
With the success of this clinic, the Northwest Territories will only see an increase of clinics moving around the North in the Spring.
